The organic sector in Middle East is developing fast. The rise of organic food & beverages in shelf space has increased considerably in the past 5 years. Fuelled by a permanently growing population, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are estimated to import 70% – 90% of their food requirements. As one the largest countries in the Middle East and North African region, Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in the development of the organic sector – from rural production to shelf – and identifies this as an important key for the future.
