Saudi-Slovenian Business Forum: A Step Towards Strengthening Economic Collaboration

The Federation of Saudi Chambers hosted the Saudi-Slovenian Business Forum today, attended by His Excellency Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Economy and Planning, and His Excellency Matjaž Han, Slovenia's Minister of Economy, Tourism, and Sports. The forum also saw participation from several government and private sector representatives from both nations.

H.E. Faisal Al-Ibrahim highlighted the milestones achieved during last year's visit to Slovenia, including the signing of a memorandum to establish a joint business council, which has opened new horizons for economic relations and investment opportunities. He emphasized the potential for synergy between the two economies and invited Slovenian businesses to join Saudi Arabia's transformative journey under Vision 2030. He stressed the importance of private sector engagement and the need for a sustainable economic cooperation roadmap to explore further investment opportunities.

Slovenian Minister Matjaž Han underscored his country's ambitions and strong economic foundation despite its small size. With exports accounting for 80% of Slovenia's GDP, the country excels in automotive manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, and boasts approximately 2,000 tech companies specializing in AI, digitalization, and cybersecurity. He invited Saudi investors to tap into the significant opportunities within Slovenia's sports and tourism sectors.

The Secretary-General of the Federation of Saudi Chambers, Waleed Al-Areenan, noted that the establishment of the joint business council demonstrates the commitment of both countries to advancing economic ties. He highlighted the remarkable 192% growth in bilateral trade during 2023, reaching $230 million.

The forum included presentations on the investment climates and opportunities in Saudi Arabia and Slovenia, success stories of Slovenian companies in the Saudi market, and insights into Slovenia’s tourism and biotechnology sectors.

This event marks a significant step forward in fostering robust economic collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Slovenia.
